'Hamara Manch' this year has been a very special day, Primary school children could bring their presentations for real on the mound, after two years. Weeks and weeks of planning, preparations, practices and finally the day when the Manch resonated with sounds of music, humming of songs, laughter and unmatched energies of children.
All presentations reflected the curriculum being facilitated in the groups. 'Lifecycle of a butterfly' profoundly depicted through creative movements. Symbolic of the metamorphosis children went through during the entire process of working towards their presentations - maturity in thought processes, stronger bonds, collaborative spirit, comfort with the space and greater confidence. Connect with the essence of all festival celebrations, cultural diversities and stories that came alive through role plays.
Is their only one way of being? Reflections and deep linkages with acceptance of the self and others, appreciation, interdependence and peaceful coexistence were subtly embedded in the role plays. Organic in nature, aligning with environmentally sustainable practices, Hamara Manch has been an outcome of a process driven curriculum. Songs and scripts created and written by children. characters chosen by them and a strong sense of ownership. Dance forms and songs from various parts of the country, musical instruments played by children and backdrops created through group efforts.
The "Manch' continues to stay with our children and they look forward to many such experiences.
