76th Republic Day Celebration

The children of Shikshantar built links with India’s Republic Day and celebrated it on Friday, 24th January ‘25. From understanding the essence of this day to celebrating interdependence and diversity, the children connected with India, its national symbols, its peoples, regions and the uniqueness of every individual.

While our youngest friends of Sprouting Seeds made India’s flag collectively, the children of Nursery groups made buntings using the colours in India’s flag. Kindergarteners keenly framed ‘agreements’ for themselves, for their group and also shared a few that they would like their families to follow.

When the idea of ‘Constitution’ was made simple for them, they gathered that ‘agreements’ for different times of the day or for spaces helped them respond to each other empathetically and consequently to work cohesively as a team.

Students of middle school, too, gathered together to celebrate our 76th Republic Day. All the way from the melodious musical presentation to witnessing the glimpse of a symbolic milestone of drafting the Constitution of India, the children thoroughly enjoyed the celebration.

On the day of celebration, the fervor of the children was high. When they saw the tricolour unfurl, they enthusiastically sang the national anthem, and went on to sing a medley of songs at all levels. They swayed and sang songs like ‘India ho ho India...’, ‘I love you so India...’, ‘We are unity...’, ‘हम होंगे कमयाब...’, ‘ in different languages , ‘ एक चमन के फूल...‘ and many other songs!

Minoti didi, our Chairperson, also shared her insightful thoughts on how we can be unified not only as a community but also as an individual with our mind, body and soul. This journey towards unity begins with accepting ourselves.
