The Annual Art Portfolio Exposition 2023-24
Each year, this eagerly awaited event reveals the artistic journey of students over the academic year. It serves as a platform to share a diverse range of artworks, encompassing the two main disciplines, Still Life study and Applied Art, besides a variety of individual art projects.
Besides familiarising the viewers with the art curriculum of ICSE and ISC examinations, the show also illustrates the progress of the students from Class IX to Class XII, with both skills and ideas becoming more refined and mature. Their prowess with drawing and shading helps them capture different materials, textures, surfaces, reflections, shadows and complex forms with more likeness and realism with time.
In Applied art as well, the variety of ideas and designs reflect the creativity, awareness, hard work and imagination of these budding artists. From posters and repeat patterns to book covers and logo designs, skilful typography and mature colour schemes contribute largely to the all-round growth of skills and confidence.
The exposition also showcased various mediums, including different types of dry and wet mediums, sculpture, printmaking, photography, weaving, collages and even waste materials like plastic bags and cans. One could not help noticing the growing popularity of crocheting and embroidery, crafts that were fading out a few years ago. Another technique that had been explored for the first time was Cyanotype printing, a photo-imaging process.
In addition to the students, the exposition was visited by parents, grandparents and friends. It was encouraging for the artists to receive motivating feedback from the visitors. One of the visitors wrote - “Each work by the students is inspiring and an absolute masterpiece reflecting immense patience and hardwork.”
