βIt is Christmas in our heart that puts Christmas in the air.β
- W.J Ellis
As we approach the end of the year 2023, the wind blows cold, the last serenade of winter's song. The dewdrops embellish the grass, much like sprinkled sugar over cake. While today is marked by breaths rising in puffs, arms hugging each body tightly, tomorrow brings in the promise of spring’s warmth and the blossom of flowers. Amidst the optimism of future warmth, the festivity and spirit of Christmas creates a brilliance of the holiday season which can lift anyone's mood with the delighting sights and sounds that are both merry and bright. The surroundings you drive past twinkle with multicoloured lights. We are greeted by the sights of the Christmas trees decorated with Classic poinsettias tied in tradition and candy canes, shiny bows and foiled paper glistening under the trees. This year, Class VIII students, along with their facilitators, tried to create a similar ambience and festive spirit for their Shikshantar family. The project on Festivities culminated with Christmas celebration observed conjointly with the entire Middle and Senior School. Our young adults discerned their ability and grouped themselves into teams of dance, music, art and compering. On one hand, the students of the art team took up the task of creating an aesthetical festive landscape with a Nativity scene, Christmas tree, and adorned the amphitheater with snowflakes, angels, and stars. On the other hand, the music team mesmerized everyone with the Carols and their wishes. The dance team set every foot tapping with their rhythmic dance moves on peppy Christmas music. Binding all the elements together were our compering team who threw light on diversity attached to this celebration. As Catherine Pulsifer aptly comments “When we remember a special Christmas, it is not the presents that made it special, but the laughter, the feeling of love, and the togetherness of friends and family that made that Christmas special.”This event felicitously created an atmosphere of jollification and jubilance, thus marking the end of the year with heartfelt wishes of Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
