Eid celebration - Class VI
At Shikshantar the students of VI celebrated the festival of ‘Eid’ with enthusiasm.
The ‘Eid’ corner was set up in the Snakes and Ladders area. It was decorated with a backdrop of crescent moon and stars created by the students using recycled material. Students of grade VI came dressed in traditional, ethnic dresses along with the Islamic paper caps created by the children bringing the spirit of the festival alive.
The celebration began with children sharing a poem written by them on caring for all - the essence of ‘Eid’. The highlight being the unique and amazing ways ‘Eid’ is celebrated in different parts of the world. In New Zealand it is celebrated as a community festival and in Indonesia the families connect with the roots and go back to their native villages to celebrate. A group of children sang 'Lab pe aati hai dua...', written by Allama Iqbal. The calming melody created an enchanting atmosphere.
The spirit of ‘Eid’ was well imbibed by the students, reflecting and remembering the universal values of brotherhood and compassion. The celebration closed with children writing their reflections and a message on kindness, friendship, peace and happiness on paper cutouts kept in a basket.
