Holi 2024
The festival of colours, Holi, is marked on the calendar as falling on 25th March this year.
Nature speaks its own language which is timely and noticeable. It has spoken through the blossoming of flowers all around.
Nandanam abounds with colours in all hues, from scarlet poppies, pink purple petunias to yellow calendulas. The Tesu tree, also called ‘Flame of the forest’, has burst into colour too.
Our young children decided to celebrate Holi early and did so in this colourful milieu.
They surrounded themselves with colours in many different ways, sang songs that added to the festive feel and also made simple natural colours using ingredients like besan, haldi, roli powder etc. They listened attentively to a story of the 7 colours coming together to form a rainbow, narrated by Seema didi. They gathered the essence of working together to create ‘magic’.
There was wonder and joy in the eyes of the young ones when they applied a ‘tika’ on each other’s foreheads. Sharing some ‘sooji halwa’ together only added to their joy.
