Independence Day Celebration - August 2024
This year, our Independence Day celebration was uniquely intertwined with Raksha Bandhan. As we honour the spirit of independence, we also celebrated the bond of Rakhi, which represents the essence of togetherness and mutual respect.
The children marked the occasion in their own unique ways. There were athletic displays to honour the military, the younger children did dancing portrayals of our national symbols.
The celebration was about finding beauty in unity, cherishing the responsibility of being together and yet maintaining our individualities.

Independence Day reminds us of the freedom we enjoy as a nation. On this day, we celebrate our shared journey towards independence and the bond that connects us all.
Embracing our freedom means understanding our responsibilities towards each other and working together harmoniously while respecting each other's space and individuality.
Rakshabandhan is a festival that celebrates this strength in relationships and enhances the feeling of mutual respect. It is a perfect reminder to reaffirm our commitments to look after each other, both in moments of joy and in challenges.
The children of Grade VI came together to celebrate these significant aspects of our heritage and exhibited a presentation on 'Celebrating Our Saviours' with enthusiasm. The amphitheatre was beautifully decorated with artwork inspired by gallantry awards. The flag was hoisted and the national anthem was sung. Poems and songs were sung in the glory of our nation.
The cherry on top was the array of defence equipment - tank, missile, submarine, bunker, satellite and helicopter, presented through creative formations by the children.
Highlighting the blend of cultural traditions and respect, children in Primary School danced to the song ‘भारत अनोखा राग है …’ with formations of lotus flower and peacock feathers adding to make it a vibrant performance. They also joyfully sang their self composed song ‘बारिश और नन्हे दोस्त…’ as well as other favourite songs related to the festivals like "राखी चमक रही चम चम..."
Children in Pre Primary lovingly embraced all things and people in their environments as worthy of their care and affection and went on to tie rakhis to them. They were also happy to make friends with India’s special things (national symbols) lotus, tiger, mango, peacock. They gathered the idea of India being a big place, bigger than their school, that accommodates their house, their grandparents’ house, friends’ houses etc. Singing songs during the celebration added to the feeling of bonhomie and oneness.
The celebration was about finding beauty in unity, cherishing the responsibility of being together and yet maintaining our individualities. The day was infused with the nature of collaboration that brought sparkle and joy to this special occasion.
