Literature gallery
At Shikshantar, books have always been children’s best friends. To deepen their beautiful connection with books, children of class III took up a theme on literature, ‘The Reading Retreat’. Children chose books of various eminent authors such as Sudha Murty, R.K. Narayan, Ruskin Bond, Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl. Reading page by page together and sharing their views on the setting of the story, the characters and the plot widened their imagination and insight into the world of English literature. Children were so inspired by the
books that researched more about the authors, their style of writing and other books written by them. They enthusiastically illustrated different characters, detailing them with descriptions. Working in teams, they created a diorama of the story and also designed a different cover page for the book. The whole experience was truly enriching for children as well as didis and the outcome was a spectacular display which created our own ‘Literature Gallery’. Children are now living up to the quote by Garrison Keillor, “A book is a gift that can be opened again and again” as they keep reminiscing about the stories and continue to make new friends with more books.
