Mann Karta Hai
‘मन करता है’ is the annual sharing by the youngest friends of Shikshantar, our children of Raindrops, Dewdrops and Boond groups. This year it was held on Saturday,17th February 2024 at the Pre-Primary campus.
It was a day to celebrate their joyful journey, from the time they had stepped into school all those months back to how they now explore its spaces and experiences with abandon. “मन मेरे tummy में होता है” , “मन मुझे शांत होने में help करता है”. From beginning to understand what is ‘मन’, the children shared all that their ‘मन’ desired. “मेरा मन करता है rabbit के साथ खेलने का”, “I want to sing and dance with my Dadi”. This set the tone for the day of ‘मन करता है’.
Having chosen songs that give them the most happiness, the comfort of children was there for all to see when they sang them along with peers, group didis and the music team. The impromptu joining-in by parents and grandparents added to the pleasant ambience of the morning.
The well-planned age-appropriate ‘Oorja’ curriculum of the school has seen Playgroup children look forward to all physical exercises and games. On the day of ‘मन करता है’, Nandanam was barely able to contain their energies when they hopped, jumped and played their chosen games. The Sports team motivated the assembled group of parents and grandparents to also join in and discover the child within, through the fun games facilitated by them.
Being the first school event exclusively for the parent community of Playgroup, they welcomed the opportunity to bond with each other through a picnic on the mound of Nandanam. A morning out in the winter sun, togetherness of friends and family with the promise of a budding relationship with a community of like-minded parents. It was indeed a day well spent.
