Pre-primary Raksha bandhan celebration
The children of Vanar Years were happy to celebrate the festival of Raksha-Bandhan in school on Tuesday 29th August ‘23. They built their connections with the essence of this festival through theme-related experiences, stories, songs, role plays etc. It was an occasion for them to express their love, acceptance, care and gratitude for people around. They were joyfully engaged in making rakhis with recycled material and shared who they wanted to make rakhis for, “My Mamma, Papa, Bua, Dada, Dadi…. I want to make 8 rakhis”. Children also reflected on their daily routines and shared names of people who help them in quiet ways to ensure that they have a pleasant day. “I want to give rakhi to Guard Bhaiya. He helps us in school”, “मेरे घर पर एक दीदी हैं जो मेरा टिफ़िन ready करती हैं। मैं उनको राखी दे सकती हूँ।” Moving from near to far, they then looked for inanimate objects that are a part of their lives “How will we colour without sketch pens, colour pencils?”, “Blocks. I love to play with blocks”. They also shared their love and care for nature and its beings. “If we don't take care of trees, how will they grow and give us shade?”, “Kaju. We have to take care of Kaju…”. To add to the joy of the festival celebration children happily made besan laddoos to share with each other and take home for their families. On the day of the collective celebration, all the children of Playgroup, Nursery & KG enthusiastically sang songs, and moved around the school space hugging & tying rakhis to friends, didis & bhaiyas, trees, plants, the slide and basketball hoops!
