Raksha Bandhan Celebration
Children in Primary school celebrated the bonds of togetherness built with our friends, animals, and nature around. During the week children prepared for the festival by making rakhis and decorated them using environmentally sustainable materials like seeds collected from under the trees during their nature walks. The highlights were ‘Rakhis’ made from clay that were decorated with seeds. Children also shared, “Didi this rakhi can go back to mother earth and mix in the soil and we can make a new one again.” Since Rakhi is always a reminder of our bond of friendship and care for everyone and everything around us in the environment, didis got into the role of Winnie-the- Pooh and Piglet - The two most favourite story characters for children symbolising bonds of friendship that we cherish. The children happily danced and sang songs, sharing ladoos and tying rakhis to each other. The children also celebrated Onam and made a flower ‘rangoli' with ‘Happy Onam’ written in English, Telugu and Malayalam languages thanking Mother earth for giving a good harvest.
