Republic Day and Vasant Panchami 2023
Celebrating India
It was another day of festivity at Shikshantar!
The children of Primary School celebrated the two festivals on 25th January 2023.
Just like Vasant Panchami is a celebration of diversity and shift in nature, let us celebrate the diversity of Indian culture and tradition!
Vasant Panchami reminds us of the shift in nature and the children shared their observation on how ‘nature has its rules ( Spring after Winters) and follows a cycle of change of seasons.’ They also shared the speciality of white as a colour symbolizing ‘peace’ and a colour that absorbs all other colours.
Children went on to reflect on the similarity between Vasant Panchami and Republic day- A day of rules and agreements for a better life. In their discussions in classrooms they also shared thoughts like , “didi we have the same rules in different states of India.” as an example of similarity and diversity.
Didi’s also initiated a discussion on building a link between nature and humans and finding similarities to stay in harmony and peace within us.
The journey of Celebrating India with its diversity in culture began with a dance by grade III on a Ladakhi song ‘Julley! Julley!’. Children from another group composed and sang a song on India ‘sabse pyara desh hamara’.They also created art work around costume, art, dance and food from different regions of India.
