Shabd Manch - Writer interactions - Class V & VI

Shikshantar’s 22nd birthday is round the corner. It is one of the many occasions when we connect with our community, reflect on our journey that brought us together in the first place. Each year, the reflection of our purpose is facilitated through a specific theme creating an immersive curricular experience.

We are delighted to introduce the theme as ‘Shabd Manch - A Festival of Letters’ this year which will be a literary experience including story narrations, book readings, poetry, author interactions and interactive sessions.

Aligning with the ongoing curricular experiences in the classrooms for Class V and VI , first in the series of storytellers /authors and illustrator was Fouzia Dastango - India's first female Dastango, a storyteller with ‘drama in reading’ .

She enthralled the students of Classes V and VI, exploring dramatised reading in the Hindi and Urdu language. She brought their attention and focus to listening through her animated style of narration by pausing at interesting moments in the story encouraging the children to complete the phrase in unison.

The children enjoyed participating in the Hindi narration of stories like "आपा की आपड़ी" and "ऊटपटांग" by Gulzar, “The Emperor's New Clothes”, "जुगनू भाई", "हाथी चल्लम चल्लम", "बिल्ली के रात दिन" and "पूँछ" by other authors. It ended with their ride through the waves of linguistic glory with "नानी की नाव".

Many more interactions and experiences with authors, storytellers, poets, illustrators, writers and puppeteers await our spaces !
