Training on POSH ACT

Women in today’s world are educated, have dreams and want to work towards their dreams.Shikshantar is one such place. We take immense pride in being a place ‘Where I can be ME’. Keeping in tune with our values, vision and philosophy, we had a training session on awareness about the POSH Act like every year. The POSH( Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the workplace) . The entire Shikshantar family with its facilitators, Admin staff and auxiliary staff attended the training. The training was bilingual- Hindi and English, the languages our staff is familiar with.

Our trainer was none other than Prof Surabhi Dhingra, a founding member of LCC( Local complaints committee) of district Gurugram and also a Shikshantar parent .She is also one of the founding members of an NGO - POSHCA along with Monalisa Mahanya and Salamrit Virk, also Shikshantar parents. A group of like minded people who have come together to create happy workplaces that are harassment free. They are an interesting group of lawyers and professors who studied the provisions of laws in detail to do their bit for the society.

They oriented us on what this act is about, its origin and most importantly about what kind of harassment falls under this ACT. POSH training familiarized us with the applicable legal framework and best practices at work. Prof.Surabhi sensitized the ICC( Internal Complaints Committee) members on how to handle complaints and resolve conflicts if any in an unbiased, non judgemental space. The session closed with many questions coming from our new and not so new members and got satisfying answers from the trainer with her sensitive approach in dealing with human emotions, in a school which is known for its gender safe space.
