Transition - Vanar Years to Finding feet
Embracing change comes most naturally to children. Transition from one Class to another is a milestone filled with excitement and new possibilities for children in Shikshantar.
The readiness for moving ahead to the next class is an immersive classroom experience for each child. It begins much in advance with children visiting their new classroom spaces, connecting with the names of their new groups.
Taking inspiration from nature - how a caterpillar changes to a butterfly or a seed into a sapling, children worked around their transition in the form of free expressions, writings or artwork to carry them along in their new groups as mementos.
The group facilitators old and new come together to support children, adjust to the new spaces stepping out of their comfort zone and make new connections to explore and expand their world. Children lit a diya in their new groups indicating positivity and happiness for the place and people around it.
‘The secret of change is to focus on building the new.’ and each one of us responds to it in a different way. Transition for our children is always a milestone worth celebrating. Their resilience and natural curiosity contributes to their new experiences and discoveries.
