As the children of Vanar years walk into the gates of Shikshantar each morning, they display small ways in which they have grown up.
A child wanting to carry his bag, which is nearly as big as him, all by himself.
A child who gestures to the parent to wait at the gate, while she walks independently to her group.
Children holding hands while walking towards their groups and proudly telling a didi, “हम बड़े होगये हैं। हम KG में आगये हैं।”
Our children may appear small to us and evoke feelings of wanting to protect them.
But we recognise that their expression of independence comes from the comfort they feel in their surroundings and the trust they have in their didis and bhaiyas.
